August Book of the Month
Days of Little Texas
by R.A. Nelson
Ronald Earl King, dubbed Little Texas at age 10, is an evangelical preacher who performs fiery sermons and miraculous healings. When he is unable to heal a girl named Lucy and she dies, he is haunted by her spirit. Along with the confusion of seeing an apparition, Little Texas deals with being 16 and the burgeoning sexual awareness that comes with it. Soon, his understanding of the spiritual realm becomes murkier and murkier. With well-defined characters and an interesting plot, Nelson develops a story of discovering how unpredictable human nature can be and that good and evil are not so easily defined.
