April Book of the Month

Marcelo in the Real World
by Francisco X. Stork

17-year-old Marcelo has an Asperger's-like syndrome and is comfortable at his special school, where he has a job caring for ponies in the stable. When his ambitious father encourages him to work in his law firm's mailroom, Marcelo is forced to navigate through the office politics as well as the outside world. Told in a characteristically flat tone, Marcelo is at once believable and somehow relatable. Readers will find themselves engulfed in the world of someone who is both much like them, and not at all like them. Fans of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time will love this one!
